Window Cleaning Business
Window cleaning can be a very profitable small business but it can also be a real money maker when added to a
cleaning service or power washing business. The key is knowing how to make money and satisfying your customers.
The job of Window Cleaning is not rocket science but achieving professional results does require use of the
proper window cleaning supplies and the proper technique. If you want crystal clear results, you should use
professional squeegees, the correct cleaning solution and the right type of applicators.
The first step in cleaning windows is using a clean lambs wool applicator. A dirty applicator will only
leave dirt behind on the surface being cleaned. Always rinse the applicator frequently if cleaning several
windows at a time.
The second rule to follow is never to try and clean window in direct sunlight. This will only create all
sorts of streaking problems no matter how diligent a cleaner you are.
The next step is to use a good squeegee and always use it in a horizontal motion so the water flows from the
bottom of the tool. Just stroke over the glass from right to left or left to right and end at the bottom where
you finally wipe the squeegee. You'll almost always have water spots at the edges of the window pane so use a
clean lint free cloth and dry the entire window.
That's right, as mentioned above, window cleaning isn't rocket science. if you scan through the many ads
for guys selling window cleaning business packages you would think its one of the best money makers in the
world. You'll also note that some of the prices seem extraordinary high for such a simple trade. This
is especially true when you realize there are only a few ways to clean any window.
Now of course there are other tricks of the trade and we have no intention of taking anything away from the
relatively few who make a good living by only washing windows. There are many large established window
cleaning businesses in cities that of course are employed cleaning office buildings and high rise apartments.
But in most cases, the new business owner is looking for a way to earn a living in his or her home town. This
is where the challenge might be.
Consequently, in good conscience we've never developed a business plan specifically for window cleaning.
We do however suggest adding this service to our carpet cleaning
business or pressure washing
business. In those repective business plans we include ways to generate additional income by washing
residential windows. We've found through experience that it is a great service which is easily offered under
the right circumstances with a very high rate of acceptance by home owners. Just purchase one of the
mentioned business plans to further directions and details.
